Rotary Park was created in the 1950′s with the construction of the Rotary Pool. In 1978, the roof of the Memorial Centre collapsed, leaving us with an outdoor ice surface. There have been several attempts over the years to utilize the park, however, this has been attempted using minimal funds, it has never been able to reach its full potential.
It is time for Rotary Park to realize its full potential.
With it’s proximity to the waterfront, and the downtown core, the park will not only benefit youth and families, but it has the potential to serve as a significant element of the revitalization of the downtown.
The proposed park will have something for all ages, which will encourage utilization by the entire family in a safe environment. Some of the proposed features include:
- Splash Pad
- Change rooms and Washrooms
- Landscaping and Walking Paths
- Bridge over the Creek
- Fenced in Play Area
- Basketball Court
- Synthetic Ice Surface
- Cover over Existing Outdoor Rink
The revitalization of Rotary Park will help to enhance the pedestrian friendly integrated campus approach and will contribute strongly to increased sustainable tourism in our beautiful city.
